BARBERGENE X VINOD
These are a series of photos taken sometime during late 2021. I went to visit a friend of mine who was about to get a haircut and thought that it'd be great to grab a few shots.
Upon arrival, I loaded my Nikon FM but something tragic happened.
The roll was not winding.
After many attempts on trying to get the roll to wind, it somehow couldn't and by that time my roll was probably already exposed to a fair bit of light, and that is bad news when it comes to film. So, I called up a friend of mine who works at a camera shop and asked if he had some Ilford Hp5 in stock and fortunately, he did!
Thankfully the film arrived just in time for me to grab a few shots as Vinod was already close to finishing up his haircut. When I got the film, I made sure to be extra careful with loading it, and thankfully, it loaded perfectly.
Fast forward a few months later, hello 2022, I finally sent the film in to be developed at Darkroom8, Malaysia. I was pretty astounded by the results, to be honest. Somehow, some of the shots had multi-exposures that just worked (I call that a blessing but some call it luck). In the end, the moment was captured and by far, this has got to be one of my favourite results that I've gotten from shooting film for a while. Shoutout to Voigtlander for their amazing 40mm f2 lens that's insanely sharp and full of contrast and of course, what's film without some Tiffen Pro Mist 1/4.
Fun fact, I actually had 2 rolls of Ilford Hp5 at the time (the one that couldn't wind and the one with my exposures in it). The first time I sent the film to be developed, turns out it was the wrong film. So, a lesson learned, remember to always label your rolls people.
